«Amour» de Michael Haneke ganó la Palma de Oro
Michael Haneke ganó la Palma de Oro del Festival de Cannes por segunda vez en su carrera por Amour.
En 2009 lo recibió por La cinta blanca (Das weisse Band).
Carlos Reygadas obtuvo el premio al mejor director. El cineasta mexicano había compartido con Persepolis de Marjane Satrapi y Vincent Paronnaud el Premio del Jurado en 2007 por Luz silenciosa (Stellet Licht).
